In order for you to get to know Mozzarella Fellas as a restaurant, I need to introduce myself as the owner - I’m Brian Ricciardi, a very proud New York raised Italian and a deep lover of the insane restaurant industry.
I was raised by my grandmother, who was also an incredible Italian cook, and grew up in a family where you were never not eating. Food was our love language, and from day one, I learned that one of the best ways to connect people, to love people, and to keep people happy was to feed them, something I still believe strongly to this day. When I was little, I dreamed of owning a restaurant - to this day, I still have a paper menu in my office that I made when I was 8 outlining the various Italian dishes I would serve and how they would be created. In addition to loving food, I’ve also always been a passionate and driven worker, and my slightly obsessive care for quality and attention to detail made it clear early on that I would eventually become a business owner. I dropped out of school at 16 to work full time, and eventually found my way into the restaurant industry... and I was hooked from day one. I started out as a dishwasher at a local Italian restaurant chain, and worked my way up to regional manager of 14 local locations. It was then that I knew my passion for creating an incredible dining experience was leading me to open my own restaurant.
A big part of my personality that came into play when creating the concept of Mozzarella Fellas was my great personal love for animals and the environment. I’ve been a passionate vegan for the past three years, and consider that a hugely defining part of my life. I believe that everyone, no matter their dietary preference, should be able to have a quality and creative dining experience. I know the challenges of finding a place where you can order menu items that you are truly excited about, instead of just a salad. Whether you’re vegan, gluten free, a “normal” eater, or whatever else, I want you to feel excited about the menu offerings Mozzarella Fellas. We are constantly working as a restaurant to improve not only our food offerings, but also our dining experience and processes to make sure that we have the best of the best to give everyone who walks in our doors. From our thoughtful weekly specials to our stainless steel straws, it is of the utmost importance to me that my business be run in a way that is truly mindful, while putting a constant emphasis on quality.
In short, I am incredibly passionate about what I get to do - I feel like it is my life’s calling to create incredible dining experiences for everyone who walks into my restaurant, and to create not just a community, but truly a family. I want to preserve the Italian culture that I so value, and also add creative and innovative twists to the food that Grandma used to make for family dinners. I am truly honored to get an opportunity to do this every single day, and cannot wait to serve you.
